
Derya Ozparlak is a Toronto-based Canadian multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans sculpture, animation, stop-motion, installation, and puppet & set design. Her work delves into themes of identity, white-collar culture, discrimination, cultural diversity, environmental issues, and societal norms.
Since 2006, her work has been acquired by corporate, museum, and public collections, and exhibited in prominent galleries, art fairs, and symposiums across Canada, France, Sri Lanka, Turkey, the US, Spain, Lebanon, Germany, Italy, Sweden, and Costa Rica. Her animations have also been screened internationally, further broadening her artistic reach. Her sculptures and animations have received awards and recognition from artistic communities in Turkey, India, Sweden, Spain, the USA, and Canada.
Select exhibitions include Light up the Dark at the Aga Khan Museum, Lightness in Istanbul, Negotiating Diaspora: at Oeno Gallery, Vuslat at Odunpazarı Modern Museum in Eskişehir, Turkey, and Proje 4L Elgiz Museum. She has also participated in major international events such as the International Stone Sculpture Symposium in Almería, Spain, the Chicago SOFA Art and Design Fair, and Contemporary Istanbul, which highlight her global presence.
Ozparlak earned her BFA in Sculpture from Anadolu University in 2008 and is currently completing a second BFA in Experimental Animation at OCAD University in Toronto. She lives and works in Toronto
